Das New Yorker Künstlerduo ioulex greift tief hinein in den Stadtraum ihrer Heimatmetropole. Ähnlich den Heterotopien Michel Foucaults entspinnt sich ein mythisch-kreativer Ort vor dem Hintergrund der realen Stadt, zusammen gehalten von roten Linien wie Blutbahnen. Diese Linien vernetzten die Künstler und ihre Ideen, verorten sie in einem Geflecht aus Verbindungen zueinander und machen sie zu einer vom realen Raum unabhängigen Instanz.
So folgen wir dem Künstler Danny McDonald in Form seines Alter Egos Mindy Vale, einer zeitreisenden Hexe und Wirbelsturms totaler Zerstörung. Ein anderes Mal sehen wir die Kostümbildnerin Christian Joy als den von Krabben besessenen Nostalgiker Satin Richjoy, gespielt von ihrem Partner, dem Musiker Jason P. Grisell. Weitere Musen und Initiatoren haben Ihren Auftritt: die legendäre New Yorker Performancekünstlerin und Musikerin Kembra Pfahler, die Choreographin Mariangela Lopez, die Ballerina Isabella Boylston und die Bildende Künstlerin Daniele Frazier.
Die Ausstellung untersucht die chaotischen Wechselwirkungen miteinander vernetzt agierender Künstler und möchte den dahinter liegenden kreativen Prozesses sichtbar machen.

The artist duo ioulex dives deep into the urban space of New York, the metropolis they call home. Similar to Michel Foucault’s heterotopias a mythical-creative space arises against the background of the real city, held together by red lines resembling blood vessels. These lines connect the artists and their ideas, locate them in a network of affiliations and make them an entity, that is independent from the real space.
Thus we follow the artist Danny McDonald as he inhabits his alter ego Mindy Vale, the time traveling witch and maelstrom of malevolent destruction. Or we reimagine costume designer Christian Joy as the shrimp obsessed nostalgic Satin Richjoy, played by her husband, musician Jason P. Grisell. Other muses and instigators include legendary performance artist and musician Kembra Pfahler, choreographer Mariangela Lopez, ballerina Isabella Boylston and visual artist Daniele Frazier.
This exhibition examines the chaotic permutations of reoccurring accomplices and tries to dissect the creative process that lies beneath.
